So, I decided to dismantle the jetpack and make a number of improvements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coated in the inside of it with floor polish so stray paint doesn&#8217;t rub off on my hands when I&#8217;m working on it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Switched to having a single relay board in with the central electronics, rather than one on each engine. I only did it the other way because the central part was getting too crowded, but I made the mounting bracket a bit bigger and cleaned up the layout and wiring.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Switched the RJ45 connections on the engines and central electronics with &#8220;vertical&#8221; ones, so they stick away perpendicularly from the breakout PCBs. This makes it easier to connect and disconnect when you&#8217;re reaching inside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The electronics mounted on top of the engines are a lot tidier, now that they don&#8217;t have the relay boards stuck on them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I swapped out the USB-C battery pack with a 12V Lithium Ion pack with a similar capacity. Simpler wiring, and I was able to put in a single switch to control power to the entire thing, so turning it on\/off just involves removing a nose cone and flipping the switch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new battery pack is attached to the inside of one of the tanks with velcro, so it can be easily removed if needed. The two batteries are in separate tanks to balance out the weight a bit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All of the battery connections are using barrel connectors, and almost all of the electronics on the main bracket and on top of the engines are using screw-down terminal blocks, so things can be tweaked or fixed without hauling out a soldering station.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s the main electronics assembly now.
